Vayam is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Driven by the principle that ‘development’ is a function of both ‘growth’ and ‘equity’, Vayam was initiated as a community level initiative in Uttar Pradesh. The mission statement is guided by the belief that design and development of state-of-art knowledge ware products is necessary but not sufficient to bring about positive and lasting change in the life of people living on the margins of society. What holds equal, if not greater importance is that knowledge-based services reach the poorest and most vulnerable communities.
Vayams network of professionals, drawn from both research and implementation, enables it to undertake field-based projects requiring direct action. Vayam has extensive experience in engaging with and facilitating community level processes related to interventions in natural resource management, micro credit & micro enterprise development, rehabilitation & resettlement especially associated with large scale infrastructure projects and health & HIV/AIDS issues.
